Royal families rejecting democracy, joining BJP

A big question arises, if the erstwhile royals are rejecting democracy to remain in power, with the help of BJP?

Do Indian royal families of India, want to remain in power with the support of BJP, like they were during the British era after supporting their policies?
This big question is knocking the minds of those who follow Indian Politics for a while now, and it has strongly risen once again after Jyotiraditya Scindhia resigned from INC and speculation of him joining the BJP in lieu of Rajya Sabha seat. Jyotiraditya was not looking much satisfied since last one year or so, as he lost Lok Sabha seat from Guna in last general election, and was not being given the MP Congress presidentship by the party. He was also expecting the Rajya Sabha seat from MP, but was not assured of the same by the INC.

This shift-over started 7 years back when BJP fielded the Princess of Jaipur Ms Diya Kumari from Sawai Madhopur assembly constituency of Rajasthan. Diya Kumari is the daughter of Brigadier Sawai Bhawani Singh, former king of Jaipur who contested Lok Sabha elections in the year 1989 for Congress, but lost to the BJP leader Girdhari Lal Bhargava. Currently, Diya Kumari is Member of Parliament from Rajsamand Lok Sabha of Rajasthan.

Ijyaraj Singh was the MP representing the Kota constituency in the Lok Sabha. He is the former prince of the erstwhile state of Kota and a member of the Kota royal family. Singh contested and won his seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, on the ticket of the Indian National Congress, defeating Shyam Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Now during the last Rajasthan assembly election, he along with his wife switched to BJP to remain in power.

A similar story came from UP in July 2019 when former Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and his wife, Ameeta Singh (former chairperson All India Professional Congress in UP), joined Bharatiya Janata Party. During the press conference, Sanjay Singh said, “Congress is still in the past and unaware of the future. Today, the country is with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and if the country is with him, I am with him. So, I am joining BJP….”
