President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the inaugural session of the Conference of Governors on National Education Policy today through video conference. The Prime Minister said in a tweet, “Tomorrow, on September 7 at 10.30 am, I, along with the President, Governors and Vice Chancellors of Universities, will participate in a conference on National Education Policy 2020 and its revolutionary impact.” The deliberations in this conference will strengthen our efforts to make India a center of knowledge. ‘
The theme of the conference is “Role of National Education Policy-2020 in the Transformation of Higher Education”. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, this conference of governors will also include education ministers of all states, vice chancellors of state universities and other senior officials.
The statement said, “The National Education Policy-2020 is the first education policy of the twenty-first century, which has been declared 34 years after the 1986 National Education Policy. The new education policy has brought in major reforms both at the school and higher education levels. ”
It says, “The new National Education Policy is going to try to make India a just and conscious society.” It envisages an India-centric education system that directly contributes to making India a global superpower. ”
According to the statement, extensive changes through the National Education Policy will bring radical changes in the education system of the country and will create a competent and strong educational ecosystem in the direction of the Prime Minister’s thinking towards creating a self-reliant India.
Several webinars, digital conferences and conferences on various aspects of National Education Policy 2020 are being organized across the country. The Ministry of Education and University Grants Commission had recently organized a conference on transformational reforms in higher education under the National Education Policy-2020, Which was addressed by the Prime Minister himself. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister approved the National Education Policy 2020 on 29 July.
