The brigade commander-level talks that lasted nearly four hours near Chushul did not yield any concrete results. Significantly, tensions have increased once again after unsuccessful efforts by China on 29 August and 30 August to occupy the Indian territory on the southern shore of Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh. India has increased vigor at strategic high altitude locations south of Pangong Lake.

On June 15, tensions between the two countries escalated when violent clashes between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galvan Valley and 20 Indian Army soldiers were martyred.
