Amid Lockdown 1 Lakh Litre Beer Poured in Drain in NCR Region

Lockdown continues across the country in the wake of Corona virus. Meanwhile, microbreweries in Delhi-NCR are forced to pour thousands of liters of fresh beer into the drains. So far, up to 1 lakh liters of fresh beer has been poured into the NCR. The reason is that they were still lying in the plant and were not kept in bottles. To save it from spoiling, it costs more than its price, so beer plants are forced to shed it.

Lalit Ahlawat of Striker & Soi dumped 5,000 liters of beer from his Gurugram’s cyber-hub outlet. Similarly, the promoter of the prankster had to throw 3000 liters of beer. Amidst all this, about 50 microbreweries of NCR have had to throw out more than 1 lakh liters of fresh beer.

Unlike bottled beer, fresh beer remains in good condition for a very short time. Brewery consultant Ishaan Grover said that in order to keep the beer fresh, the plants have to keep it at a certain temperature and monitoring is also required every day. Such stock was not deposited on normal days.

Most beer plants were full at their full capacity when the lockdown  was announced 4 weeks ago. Since then they have been maintaining their stock. Brewers say the problem is not just about lockdown. Even after lockdown customers are less likely to return to beer shops as before due to fear of viruses and concerns about social distancing.
