Lucknow|  108 and 102 Ambulance Employees Union has complained about not getting salary and equipments for their safety, since January. Employees have threatened to go on a strike if the demand is not met.

The Emergency Ambulance Service Private Company ‘GVK’, of 102 and 108 in UP, is under a contract with the UP government. It has about 17000 employees, including ambulance drivers, emergency technicians. There are about 4500 ambulances deployed in the states. These employees are on contract with private firm GVK.

The Union has written a letter demanding that the ambulance should complete the shortcomings of equipments such as masks, gloves, sanitiser, PPE, handwash etc. for their own safety. At the same time, from January to now, the pending salary of two months must be released immediately. Also, incentives for working in an epidemic like Corona should be given along with an increase in salary.

With these demands, the Union says that if the service provider does not fulfill all these demands, then they will stop working from March 31 and return to their homes. This is being seen as a threat to call for a strike by the ambulance employee of Uttar Pradesh.
