Corona virus cases are increasing in the country. The Corona vaccine is expected to arrive on the new year. In the same sequence, on Wednesday, an expert panel of Drugs Controller of India (DCI) is meeting to give emergency approval to Vaccine Covishield of Serum Institute of India (SII), one of the vaccine manufacturers in India. When the vaccine was approved in the UK, SII executive officer Adar Poonawala said this was good news.
A government official says the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Drugs Controller of India (DCI) is holding a meeting to consider Serum Institute of India’s application for emergency use approval of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Vaccine approval in the UK is a major achievement for the Serum Institute, as it is one of the top three vaccine manufacturers in India. The serum has already applied to the Drug Controller General of India for regulatory approval, but has not yet received mandatory approval for the vaccine. There is a possibility that it may be approved in today’s meeting.
