Yesterday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar praised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his courage and determination in walking from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. “Those who hold power of the country have never appreciated it. That man only wanted to see the country — if there is any lack in the country. Rahul Gandhi toured the country from a viewpoint of addressing collectively what is lacking in the country. He was ridiculed but he did not think about it. he kept walking and meeting people,” said Sharad Pawar
Speaking to the media, Pawar said that despite facing ridicule from the BJP, Rahul Gandhi did not waver from his commitment. He kept meeting people, interacting with them and understanding their problems.
Pawar also signalled that his party NCP will be onboard of any Congress-led Opposition in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Pawar’s remarks come at a time when the political scene in India is heating up in view of the upcoming elections. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has already given a call to opposition parties to unite and fight the 2024 Lok Sabha under Congress’s leadership.
Sharad Pawar also took on the Election Commission for giving decisions that support the ruling party. His comments about EC also show the strong bonding that has developed between Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena is at loggerheads with EC for giving the original party symbol of bow and arrow to Shinde-faction of the Shiv Sena. Sharad Pawar is currently the Chairman of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
