Sensex Opened 626.43 Points Below Yesterday’s Closing Mark

Due to weak signals from the global markets, today the last trading day of the week i.e. Friday, the stock market started on a decline. Bombay Stock Exchange’s flagship index Sensex opened 626.43 points or 1.61 percent down at 38364.51 level. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty opened at 11354.40 with a fall of 1.50 per cent or 173.05 points.

On Thursday, there was a volatile environment in the markets across the world. US market opened with decline. The Dow Jones opened down 27 points at 29073, down 0.09 percent. Nasdaq was down 202 points at 12217, down 1.63 percent, and the S&P was down 20 points at 3560, down 0.58 percent. Almost all markets in the world closed down except Japan and Korea. Nikkei closed with a lead of 218 points. While China’s Shanghai Composite closed down 19 points, Hong Kong’s Hangsang closed down 112 points.

Talking about the big stocks, today the shares of Infrate, Grasim, Titan, UPL and Wipro opened on the green mark. ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Bank, Hindalco, and Power Grid stocks opened on the red mark.

During the pre-open at 9.10 am, the Sensex was down by 665.94 points, or 1,71 per cent, to 38325. The Nifty was down 7.55 points, or 0.07 per cent, at 11527.45.
