Resort Politics Emerges in Gujarat Once Again

Gujarat Resort Politics

With the Rajya Sabha elections approaching, Resort politics has once again emerged in Gujarat. After the sudden resignation of 3 MLAs, Congress is not willing to take any chance and has shifted its MLAs to resorts. In the last three months, about 8 MLAs of Congress have resigned from assembly.

Voting will be held on June 19 for 18 seats across the country, including four seats in the state. The Congress has fielded candidates for two seats from here, while three BJP candidates are in the fray. After the resignation of the MLAs, the chances of Congress winning both the seats are becoming less. The Congress is now engaged in protecting its MLAs. Here Congress leader Hardik Patel has accused BJP of horse-trading.

In view of the corona epidemic and lockdown, three separate teams of all 65 Congress MLAs have been formed so that social distancing can also be maintained. These MLAs are placed in Zone Wise separate resorts. The responsibility of these three teams has been given to the big leaders of the state Congress. 21 Congress MLAs have been shifted to Ambaji Wild Wind Resort. The responsibility of the North Zone MLAs has been given to Congress leader Siddharth Patel.

After this, about 21 MLAs have been shifted to a resort in Abu Road in Rajasthan.

MLAs from Saurashtra have been called to Nilcity Resort in Rajkot. To prevent more MLAs from Saurashtra, all the MLAs have been kept here. Arrangements have been made for the Congress MLAs of Central Gujarat to stay at the Aris resort of Umeta. More than 15 MLAs are staying in this resort. The responsibility of keeping these MLAs one has been given to Bharat Singh Solanki.

In the meantime, Morbi MLA Brijesh Mareja, one of the three legislators who resigned from the Congress and quit the party, is said to be contesting and becoming a minister on behalf of the BJP. Seeing this possibility, Kanti Amritiya, a former Morbi MLA who has been working in the BJP for many years, has marginalized many Patidar leaders including Raghavji Gadara.
