New Delhi| Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has yet again cornered the Modi government for lack of preparedness amid COVID-19 fears in the country. Rahul Gandhi has been warning about the fears of the virus since January 31, but the government has not taken it seriously since then.
In his tweet, he has given reference of an article published in caravan magazine which states that despite the WHO guidelines to stockpile masks, ventilators.
आदरणीय प्रधानमंत्री जी,
WHO की सलाह
2. सर्जिकल मास्क
का पर्याप्त स्टाक रखने के विपरीत भारत सरकार ने 19 मार्च तक इन सभी चीजों के निर्यात की अनुमति क्यों दीं?

The government has failed to stockpile masks, gowns and other protective equipments, Indian government has failed to do so.
Also, the government has lifted the ban on export of surgical equipments on 25th February, just couple of weeks after the ban was imposed.
Sanjiiv Kumar, the chairman of the Preventive Wear Manufacturers Association of India, said that while other countries took measures to not only the ban the export of PPE materials, but also their raw materials, Indian manufacturers continued selling them in order to gain huge profit. Government’s lack of foresightedness led to the huge shortage- he claimed.
