Political Crisis in Sweden, PM Stefan Lofven Losses Vote of Confidence

Date:

STOCKHOLM | A political crisis has arisen in Sweden. The country’s Prime Minister Stefan Lofven lost his government’s vote of confidence in the House on Monday. He is the first leader in Swedish parliamentary history to be defeated on a motion in the House. Stefan Lofven is associated with the Social Democratic Party. Lofven has been the country’s prime minister since 2014.

However, this picture has not been clear yet on which side this political deadlock will sit in Sweden. It is not yet clear what will happen next in Sweden. Lofven said on Thursday that he wanted to wait for the outcome of the no-confidence motion and then consider what would be better for Sweden. Prime Minister Lofven said he had two ideas, first – to hold mid-term elections or to remain head of the caretaker government.

Let us tell that India and Sweden have good relations. Bilateral relations were discussed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven in March 2021. In this meeting held via virtual medium, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between Sweden and India in the post-Covid era. In this discussion, PM Modi had said that till now we have provided the Kovid vaccine made in India to 50 countries.
