Poet Varavara Rao Tests Positive

Poet Varavara Rao has tested positive for Covid-19. Although he showed no symptoms of the virus, yet the positive report shows him to be asymptotic. He is admitted in Mumbai’s JJ Hospital and will soon be shifted to a Covid hospital as JJ Hospital is marked as non-Covid.

Earlier, the poet’s family members have been horrified to see him lying in a pool of urine on his bed. He was incoherent, in a transit ward, with no attendants, no nurses, only a few policement standing nearby. This was the case when he was not reported to be positive.

Human Rights Defenders Alert has written to NHRD India to intervene in the case for proper treatment of the poet.
