Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an important meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on Friday. Modi will attend the United Nations meeting for the first time after India’s election to the temporary seat of the UN Security Council. Elected as a temporary member of the Security Council of India for the session 2021-22.

The Foreign Ministry said, PM Modi will address the concluding session of ECOSOC on Friday on the occasion of the 75th establishment of the United Nations by video link. He will be accompanied by Norwegian PM Erna Solberg and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The theme of the high level session of ECOSOC is ‘Multilateralism after COVID-19’, which shows India’s preference for Security Council. This annual session will feature top representatives from diverse groups including government, private sector, civic institutions and academics.
