Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated Asia’s largest solar plant in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. The Prime Minister initiated it through video conference. A 750 MW solar power project has started in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. In his address, the Prime Minister said that today Rewa has really created history. He said that solar energy is going to be a major medium of energy needs not only today but in the 21st century. Because solar energy is pure, pure and secure.
“Today, Rewa has really scripted history. Rewa is identified with the name of mother Narmada and the white tiger. Now, the name of Asia’s largest solar power project has also been added to it,” he said.
Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited, a joint venture of state-owned SECI and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd is consists of three solar generating units of 250 MW each located on a 500-hectare plot with a total area of 1500 hectare.
Madhya Pradesh’s Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Minister of New and Renewable Energy RK Singh and Petrolem Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were among those present during the inauguration virtually.
