Odisha has been leading the way in disaster management and in face of dealing with a pandemic it has yet again showed the way. After declaring COVID-19 a disaster and closing schools till March 31st, the state government of Odisha has ordered to shut down all anganwadi centres and deliver food entitlements of children at doorstep.

The notification issued by the government read, “In order to ensure entitlement of morning snacks and hot cook meals of the pre-school children of the age group 3-6 years, attending Anganwadi centres 25days a month, it must be ensured that ration and eggs are provided to the mothers at their household so that there is no disruption in feeding under Supplementary Nutrition Programme”.

The fight against malnutrition continues side by side with the fight against the spread of Corona Virus. These efforts will set an example not only for the rest of the country but also for the world.
