Dr V.K. Paul, NITI Aayog member (Health) today in a press briefing told the media about India’s vaccine production plans in the coming months. He also revealed that the Russian made SputnikV vaccine could be available in India by next week.
“Overall, 216 crore doses of vaccines will be manufactured in India between August-December for India and for Indians. There should be no doubt that vaccine will be available for all as we move forward,” said the NITI Aayog member.
He also advised those who recently suffered the COVID-19 infection to take the jab six months post recovery.
India’s healthcare infrastructure has completely crumbled from the caseload of COVID-19 infections and there is no way to upgrade the infrastructure in a short period of time. This leaves Indians with only one option and that is to get themselves quickly vaccinated. With the government finally waking up to the crisis and speeding up vaccine delivery, there is hope that the numbers may drop in the coming months.
