Mixing Religion in Politics : A Democracy of Disaster

Date:

Why religion is mixed with politics? Why God’s name is being dragged into unnecessary political drama? Why can’t political party exist without the help of any God’s name?

Religion should have been a personal matter for any political leader as his main responsibility is the development of country. In the present scenario when country is suffering from pandemic of Corona , and when people are dying due to disease, starvation, depression, migrants issues ,economic downfall and farmer’s suicides, any celebration of a religious function should have been kept low profile not to hurt and so as protect the sentiments of citizen of country as a whole. Who will create the RAM Rajya again if Raja does not behave impartially?

Finally Bhoomi Puja of Shree Ram temple was completed and PM Modi did not miss an opportunity to highlight the show.

Shree Ram belongs to all Hindus irrespective of whatever political party they belong and it is sad that God’s name is being dragged into such a way for political gains. The present leaders are trying to represent their party with God’s name( with their pictures next to God’s image in posters) which hurts the feeling of other pure devotees who may not be mixing politics & God.

Secularism is the principle of separation of the state from religious institutions.

India established a secular state with its own characteristics of religious tolerance, liberty and equality. Religious tolerance is a key element in the concept of Indian secularism

A Common citizen prefers to see their political leader who holds the highest post of the country to be neutral and impartial to everyone and not to prefer any of particular religion or sect openly. When religious leaders are already there to preach religion, why political leaders need to interfere?

Mixing of religion with politics is a dangerous trend because religious attitude is absolutely opposed to democracy. Over religious interference encourages fanaticism and suspends our reasoning power.

Religious places are used for political propaganda and the religious sentiments of the people are excited in order to gain political control of the country. This emergence of religion-political party has threatened the secular character of India which is dangerous trend which hampers the unity & brotherhood.

Why can’t political leaders thrive without using religion in their politics? Why any religious activity should be given too much important through the entire country where all religions exists equally and which may hurt sentiments of democratic feelings.

Opening of temple, Mosque or Church shouldn’t have been a show of celebration in the entire country in all states hurting the basic values of secularism where people from different religion, trust and respect their leaders. Media has completely taken up the agenda of ruling party and has forgotten their ethics. When will political leaders become Maryada Purushottam instead of being hypocrites?
