Last Date to File ITR Extended to September 30

ITR Lastdate extended

The government has extended the income tax filing date by two months to September 30 for the financial year 2018-2019 (assessment year 2019-20). In a tweet, the Income Tax Department said, “The Central Board of Direct Taxes has now extended this date from 31 July to 30 September for the purpose of facilitating taxpayers amid the Covid epidemic.” This date has been extended for the third time this year for taxpayers.

The government had fixed July 31 as the last date for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2018-19, which has now been extended to 30 September. By extending the date, the taxpayers have now got an additional time of about two months to file the return.

The Income Tax Department has given information in this regard through a tweet. This decision has provided huge relief to the taxpayers. The reason that people were facing difficulty in filling ITR was because of Corona epidemic and lockdown.

The Income Tax Department has said in its tweet that due to the Covid pandemic and for the convenience of taxpayers, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on 31st of the last date for filing income tax returns for FY 2018-19 (assessment year 2019-20) Has been increased from July 2020 to 30 September 2020.
