If things go right, India may have its indigenous corona vaccine by August 15. This information was revealed in the meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi on June 30. The human trial of the aforesaid vaccination are scheduled to begin by July 7.
As per the letter issued by ICMR, the country is working in partnership with Bharat Biotech International Limited to fast-track clinical trials of the indigenous vaccine, which is one of the top priority projects being monitored at the topmost level of government.
The vaccine is derived from a strain of SARS – CoV – 2 isolated by ICMR-National Institute of Virology, Pune.
As per the notification, the vaccine is envisaged to be launched for public health use by 15th August.
