The tension between Indian and Chinese troops in many disputed areas along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh is not taking its name. The two armies are in a face-to-face situation, leading to fears that this may be the biggest military confrontation since the Doklam episode in 2017.
Top military sources said that India has increased its strength in two controversial areas, Pangong Tso and Galwan Valley, where around 2000 to 2500 soldiers of the Chinese army are encamped by tents. “The strength of the Indian Army in the region is superior to the Chinese Army,” said a top military officer on condition of confidentiality.
The presence of Chinese troops on several major border areas, including the Indian Post AM 120 along the Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi road in the Galvan Valley, is the biggest concern for the Indian Army. Lt General (Retd) DS Hooda said, “This is a serious situation.” This is not a normal type of crime. This situation in Galvan Valley is worrisome because there has been no major dispute between the two sides here before.
