In recent times, Rohit Shetty is one bollywood filmmaker, who understands nerves of his audience. His movies are a combination of nerve tickling as well as action-filled stunts. The director is quite unapologetic about his brand of cinema, and the audience too relishes his commercial potboilers. Be it Golmaal, the Singham franchise or Simmba, it won’t be wrong to call him the icon of Bollywood blockbusters.
Way back in 2004, Kareena Kapoor Khan had famously called Rohit Shetty the ‘Manmohan Desai of her generation’. Just like Shetty, the legendary director was known for films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, Naseeb, Dharam Veer, and he too believed that films are made for ‘Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment.’
Rohit Shetty may be from the film background, but he struggled a lot. His father died in the year 1982, after which he had to undergo financial crisis.
He had to even quit his studies.
Rohit said in an interview- “My first earning was Rs 35. I missed college. I didn’t know where the money for books and clothes would come from. I didn’t know who would give all this. So I started working.
Rohit Shetty used to iron Saris of actress Tabu during his struggle days, during the making of film ‘Reality’. Rohit also served as Kajol’s spotboy, as he used to give touch-ups before shoots.
Rohit Shetty worked as Assistant Director in Ajay Devgan’s blockbuster Phool Aur Kaante. They both later worked in more than 10 films together.
Rohit Shetty is the only director of Bollywood who has given highest number of films with 100 million box-office collection. Talking about the workfront, Rohit Shetty’s next film is Suryavanshi. The film is scheduled to release on 24th March.
Infeed wishes Rohit, a very happy birthday on his 47th Birthday.
