Guard Rapes Teenager in Patna’s PMCH Covid Ward

Date:

A case of rape of a 15-year-old minor girl has been reported in a separate ward of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Bihar. A security guard posted at the hospital is alleged to have raped the teenager. The woman police station chief Rita Jaiswal said on Thursday that Mahesh Singh, an accused security guard, is being sent to jail in judicial custody and the victim is being investigated by the medical board.

The Patna Police team along with Pirbhor police station arrested the accused guard on Wednesday. The victim minor, a resident of Nalanda district, had run away from home on July 8 to go to her father, a laborer in Kolkata. He was caught by the police at Badh railway station and handed over to the child line team. The girl was later admitted to a separate ward of PMCH after conducting a Covid-19 investigation.

In a statement to the police, the victim said that on July 8, security guard Mahesh Singh, who was on late night duty, took her to the toilet and raped her. The victim has alleged that the guard’s action did not stop here but he used to touch her body in a dirty way. The victim said that she had given this information to Didi, who came from the child line on July 14, who informed it to the police.
