Govt. to Pump 50,000 Cr For Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan

The Finance Minister said that workers across the country wanted to go back to their villages after the lockdown began and the Central and State Governments arranged it. We have found that the workers returning home during the lockdown were mainly from 116 districts in six states. These states are Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Rajasthan.

Sitharaman said that within 125 days about 25 schemes of the government for these 116 districts will be brought under the Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan. She said that in these 125 days we will take every scheme to its highest level. This campaign will create new employment opportunities in rural India.

Prime Minister Modi will start this campaign through video conferencing at 11 am on 20 June. The campaign will be a collective effort of rural development, panchayati raj, road transport and highways, mines, drinking water and sanitation, environment, railways, petroleum and natural gas, renewable energy, roads, telecommunications and agriculture.

Finance Minister Sitharaman said that whatever goal is to be achieved within these 25 different works using the returned workers. Together these 25 schemes have been allocated around Rs 50,000 crore.
