In these troubled times, ‘#FarzManukhtaLai the initiative by Punjab Congress team to set up the Covid Helpline Center, is rendering service to provide assistance to needy sections of the society.The second wave of corona pandemic has caught in its spate Punjab too along with the other States leading to thousands of people facing huge difficulties, The helpline works 24×7 to resolve the grievances of the common people through its District level volunteers. The helpline receives numerous calls from the high profile officers, leaders, media persons, traders, and other sections about the requirement of ventilators, oxygen beds, or some special medicine.
The helpline also ensures that the volunteers deliver food to the families of Covid patients. The Coordinator of the helpline Mr. Kanwarbir Singh Ruby Sidhu said that the initiative has begun on May 3 but the ever-increasing Covid cases have contributed to compounding everyday difficulties.
The situation in the country is very critical due to a sudden spurt in the Covid patient. This upsurge has posed challenges in ensuring quality treatment for critically ill patients. The Punjab Government is undertaking every effort to provide quality healthcare to the people but the continuous increase in the number of patients has swelled to thousands thus leading to a shortage of essential supplies to the needy people.

In order to make sure that every facility reaches Covid affected patients, contact numbers 9115127102, 9115158100 have been made operationalized, in case of any emergency, assistance is provided to the people through volunteers by coordinating with the District Administrations besides nodal officers of the Covid care hospital for ventilators and oxygen beds. Every district is extending wholehearted support to them. In many cases, old people encourage the volunteers that they have fulfilled their duties towards them (old people) like their own offspring. Coordinator Amarpreet Singh Lali revealed that everyday offers for extending assistance are being received in large numbers from social welfare, religious organizations, and NGOs which has boosted the morale of the volunteers and expanded their network.
Volunteers are providing medical aids , Corona Fathe Kits, Oxygen Cylinders etc across the Punjab, Creating awareness and distributing Masks among the public.

Cabinet Minister Vijayinder Singla launched a 100 bed facility and Covid War room to combat Covid, Another 50 Bed Covid facility is being developed in Bathinda to provide free treatment for the poor. In order to check the spread of COVID CM Punjab Captain Amrinder Singh has started “ Corona Mukat Pind Abhiyan” to promote awareness and testing among people with PHC’s and Health & Wellness clinics being the fulcrum of the efforts.
