Bhopal| Amid the fight against corona in the entire world, the situation in the state of Madhya Pradesh is emerging to be worrisome. With the highest fatality rate (7.6%) in the country, 40 people have died in the state, second only to Maharashtra. Even after such high death rates, the number of tests are just 71 per million which is among the lowest in the country, followed by just UP, WB, Bihar, Nagaland and Jharkhand. More shocking is that, even after such low numbers of testing in the state, the figures of positive cases are increasing at a very high rate.
While more than 50% of the deaths have been reported in Indore, the commercial capital of the state, even after imposing a strict curfew, where not even bread and butter is available for people since past 21 days, the eyebrows have been raised for the bad health infrastructure in the state. The hospitals blocked for Corona patients in Indore, includes a private hospital, owned by one of the person accused of VYAPAM Scam.
Among the number of deaths that have taken place, two are doctors, which shows that not enough precautions have been taken to protect the lives of corona warriors, forget about common people. Not only this, a large number of IAS officers of the state have been tested positive including the health secretary of the state, which has turned the state into a cabinet less, bureaucracy less state in such crucial times; leading to suffering among its citizens. As per the reports 50 percent of the COVID-19 cases in the state’s capital are from government officials and their families.
The opposition has attacked the government and has asked for government’s intervention in the case to help fight against the deadly spread of the pandemic.
