The ruling Congress party has catapulted forward in the Rajasthan Panchayat elections; winning 670 Panchayat Samiti seats out of the 1564 seats. The BJP managed to win 550 seats. The polling was held in six districts in three phases. The counting of votes began Saturday morning at the six district headquarters and till 3:30 PM, results for 1389 seats were announced.

The Congress has also won the one seat of Zila Parishad in Jodhpur. Other than Congress and BJP, RLP managed to win 39 seats, BSP 10 seats and NCP won two seats.
