BJP has declared candidates for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the Rajya Sabha elections. For Uttar Pradesh, the party has announced the names of eight and one candidate for Uttarakhand. Currently, Union Minister Hardeep Puri, Member of Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh, BJP General Secretaries Arun Singh and Neeraj Shekhar have been given the opportunity to be sent to the Upper House again.
BJP has nominated Uttar Pradesh Scheduled Castes Commission President, former Director General of Police Brij Lal, former MLA from Mugra Badshahpur (Jaunpur) Seema Dwivedi, senior BJP leader and former minister Haridwar Dubey, President of UP Construction Infrastructure Development Corporation and President of BJP’s Brij Region BL has lived Verma and Auraiya’s party leader Geeta Shakya have been fielded.
Naresh Bansal has been declared the candidate from Uttarakhand. Rajabbar, the Rajya Sabha member of the Congress, is vacant on November 25 and due to this, elections are also being held for one seat in the state. Monday was the first day of nomination but not a single nomination was made. On the other hand, the Congress has already shunned the number of party MLAs in this election. However, the party is yet to decide whether its MLAs will vote or not. Election will be uncontested if only one name comes.
