Approach road of Bangra bridge has collapsed even before its inauguration. The bridge was constructed at a cost of 509 crores under the name Bangra Ghat Mahasetu which was to be inaugurated today by CM Nitish Kumar.
The approach road of Bangra Ghat Mahasetu was cut off due to the breaking of Saran Dam in Baikunthpur. The approach road of Mahasetu has collapsed within a radius of about 50 meters. Top officials of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation have reached the spot. More than two JCB machines and hundreds of laborers have been put on repair work.
Nearly 11 km approach road has been constructed in Chhapra side of Bangra Ghat Mahasetu and 8 km in Muzaffarpur side. The cost of Mahasetu and approach Roads has come to Rs. 509 crores.
Earlier, the approach road of a small bridge built at Satghat in Gopalganj had collapsed. Minister Nand Kishore Yadav had said that there are 3 small bridges in the Satghat bridge. The approach of the small bridge, 2 km from the Satghat Bridge, is cut only by the strong flow of water. The Satghat bridge has been constructed at a cost of 264 crores.
