In the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi became emotional on Tuesday on the occasion of the farewell of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition and senior Congress member. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has reacted to this. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emotional speech on the occasion of the farewell of Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Rajya Sabha as “acting as intended”.
In a discussion on former Vice President Hamid Ansari’s book ‘Bai Meni a Happy Accident: Recall of a Life’, Shashi Tharoor said, ‘It was a very well acted. In those days there was a terrorist attack on tourists in Kashmir and some tourists were killed. Among them were tourists from Gujarat. At first, Ghulam Nabi Azad called him and informed him and his tears were not stopping. I requested the then Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee to provide an army airplane to bring the mortal remains of the tourists, which he accepted. Azad called again at night from airport.
PM Modi said ‘It was a very emotional moment for me. The next day, Azad received a call again and asked if Modi ji, everyone reached. ‘He said’ I respect Azad very much, seeing the events and experience as a friend. ‘ Sharing some memories, the Prime Minister said that while he was contemplating calling a meeting of leaders of various parties in the House on the Kovid-19 epidemic, Azad telephoned and suggested to call a meeting of leaders of all parties. Modi said, “I considered that suggestion and that suggestion was useful.
