Maharashtra Minister Aslam Sheikh while defending Mumbai Police has urged the Centre to decide who will conduct the investigation into the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
“Still, if the Centre feels that there should be further investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) then they should do it,” the Congress leader said.

The statement comes one day before the Supreme Court (SC) verdict on the Sushant Singh Rajput family vs Rhea Chakraborty case. The SC is likely to deliver the verdict at 11 PM tomorrow.
On August 5, in the first hearing the Centre told the SC that they have accepted Bihar government’s recommendations to transfer the case to CBI.
In the second hearing held on August 7 all five parties – Sushant Singh Rajput family, Rhea Chakraborty, Bihar government, Maharashtra government and the CBI put forward their points, while in the third hearing held on August 13, all the parties presented their final submissions before the apex court.

With intense media glare on the case, the Maharashtra Minister’s stance signals reduced appetite in the Maharashtra government circle for a prolonged fight over the right to investigate the actor’s death.
