Zerodha’s Co-founder was banned from chess.com, After cheating against Vishwanath Anand in a charity game.

Nikhil Kamath apologized and accepted that he cheated in the game by taking help from in-game analysts and computers. Replying to the controversy Nikhil tweeted, “It is ridiculous that so many are thinking that I really beat Vishy sir in a chess game, that is almost like me waking up and winning a 100mt race with Usain Bolt. ” he further added that he had help from the people analyzing the game, computers and the graciousness of Anand sir himself to treat the fame as a learning experience. ” Apologizing for the mistake he said “This was for fun and charity. In hindsight, it was quite silly as I didn’t realize all the confusion that can get caused due to this.”

Vishy replied that he didn’t expect this from his opponent. “I just played the position on the board and expected the same from everyone.”

It was a fundraiser event organized to raise COVID’19 relief. Many celebrities participated including Aamir khan, Sudeep, Riteish, Yuzvendra Chahal, singer – Arijit Singh, Ananya Birla, Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath, and Xiaomi’s MD Manu Kumar Jain played against Chess Champion Vishwanath Anand.

Anand won against all the celebrities except Nikhil, whose accuracy rate was 99%. Following the incident, Nikhil Kamath’s Chess profile was banned for Violating Fair Play Policy by Chess.com.
