Union Cabinet Meeting Today Amid Cabinet Reshuffle Speculations

PM Modi Cabinet Reshuffle

The meeting of the Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs will be held on Wednesday amid speculations of a reshuffle. Actually, these speculations got air when there were several meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda.

Sources had said that some important leaders from BJP and NDA allies could be inducted into the cabinet. After the exit of Shiv Sena and Shiromani Akali Dal and the death of LJP’s Ram Vilas Paswan, some important posts are lying vacant in the cabinet.

In the second term of the Modi government, preparations for the first cabinet expansion are going on in full swing. The Prime Minister is reviewing the work of different ministries by calling different ministers in the group. Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda were also present in these meetings. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a meeting with cabinet colleagues and BJP President JP Nadda amid speculations of cabinet expansion.

According to sources, the Prime Minister had held several such meetings last week as well. He said that through these meetings, the Prime Minister discussed many other issues besides taking information about the work done in the last two years in various ministries. The BJP president was present in almost all the recent meetings. Experts believe that this could be an exercise before the expansion and reshuffle in the Union Cabinet.

According to sources, the review of the work of ministers at the PM’s residence started from Thursday and till now the work has been reviewed from three groups. On the first day, Modi took information from Rameshwar Teli, VK Singh and some other ministers about the work done by their ministries. According to sources, these meetings lasted for more than five hours and several ministers also presented presentations of their ministries.

The cabinet expansion in the second term of the Modi government is being awaited for a long time. In March last year also, there was brainstorming on the expansion. Meanwhile, the expansion was postponed due to the knock of the Corona epidemic and later the assembly elections of five states. Significantly, in the second term, due to the resignation of former allies Shiv Sena and Akali Dal’s quota ministers, the untimely death of two ministers, the workload of many ministers is very high. Many ministers are handling the responsibility of three to four departments.
