Two girls Vaidehi Vekariya and Radhika Lakhani of 14 years and in 10th grade have discovered an asteroid near Mars. They were participating in a project sponsored by Space India and NASA. The project allows students to look at images from a telescope in Hawaii.
The two teenagers used specialized software to analyze the images captured by the Pan-STARRS telescope in Hawaii.
The asteroid, which is near Mars is slowly moving towards Earth and will take about one million years to be near Earth.
Lakhani said she is working hard on her education. “I don’t even have a TV at home, so that I can concentrate on my studies,”.
