The results of this poll were astounding. More than 79% of the participants believed that Vikas Dubey has surrendered and has not been arrested as claimed by Madhya Pradesh Police. This indicates that the majority of participants of this poll do not believe in the government-sponsored narrative of Madhya Pradesh Police successfully arresting Gangster Vikas Dubey.
Indian Police & Judiciary is marred by corruption, red-tapism & undue political interference. The arrest and subsequent encounter of Vikas Dubey has not only created a political slugfest but the credibility of Uttar Pradesh Police & the judiciary system has also been dented. Many people, intellectuals, Ex-IPS officers, army veterans & socio-political activists have raised strong concerns against such types of “quick justice” encounters. The main argument against such encounters is that real nexus of police, criminals & politicians will never be exposed, the main culprit will be scot-free as a result of which the evolution of Indian police as a professional, accountable & pro-public policing force will take a severe hit & it will create a huge trust deficit & fault lines between police and people and even between people & judiciary.
