Tamil Nadu, Seventh State to Extend Lockown

In view of the increasing cases of corona infection in the country, Tamil Nadu has announced to increase the lockdown till 30 April on Monday. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami announced the implementation of the full lockdown and said that the lockdown was being extended till 30 April. He said that this decision has been taken after consulting the health experts.

Tamil Nadu is the seventh state in the country to extend the lockdown period. Earlier, Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Telangana had announced to extend the lockdown by 30 April.

Referring to the video conferencing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with chief ministers of 13 states, Palaniswami said that chief ministers of other states had also supported the extension of the lockdown.

Significantly, PM Modi, after meeting for four hours on Saturday, indicated that the lockdown between the COVID-19 epidemic could be extended by two weeks after considering the requests of the Chief Ministers. The Prime Minister stressed the need to protect both life and economy. He had said, ‘I said in my first address, Jaan hai to jahan hai. Now we have to see life as well as the world.

A three-week lockdown was announced on 24 March by Prime Minister Modi to break the chain of infection of this dangerous virus. The Center says that this was a successful decision and if the lockdown was not implemented the number of corona virus infected in India could have been manifold. At the same time, PM Modi will address the nation tomorrow at 10 am regarding the corona virus lockdown.

According to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, 35 people died and 796 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of corona virus positive cases has increased to 9152. Of these, 7987 are active, 856 have become healthy or have been discharged from hospital and 308 have died.

Today the first case of corona has been reported in Nagaland. At the same time, four new cases have been reported in Maharashtra 82, 30 in Agra in Uttar Pradesh, 22 in Gujarat, 22 in Indore in Madhya Pradesh, 15 in Karnataka, 12 in Andhra Pradesh, 43 in Rajasthan and Dharavi in ​​Mumbai.
