The Supreme Court on Friday refused to ban Sudarshan TV’s program Bindas Bol before airing. The promo of the recently released program claims to have made a big disclosure on the conspiracy to infiltrate Muslims in government service.
A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Justice KM Joseph said, “We have to look at every aspect of seriousness before the ban is imposed.” All possible outcomes have to be seen before a decision is made. The bench further said, “We cannot ban pre-telecast of unverified transcript of 49-second clip.” Under statutory provisions, competent authorities have the powers to ensure social harmony and peaceful coexistence of communities under the law.
The bench also issued notices to the Center, Press Council of India, News Broadcasters Association and Sudarshan News on the plea to stop the broadcast and seek its response till the next hearing on 15 September.
