The Railway Ministry is planning to going to curtail the salaries and allowances of over 13 lakh officers and employees to bridge the losses due to the lockdown. Under this, the allowances for overtime duty including TA, DA will be abolished.
Rail driver-guard will not be given per kilometer allowance for running a train. Railways argue why allowances should be given to employees to do duty. The railway is already going through a severe financial crisis. The condition has become thinner due to the lockdown. In view of this, there is a need to cut the allowance for overtime duty by 50%.
There is a suggestion of 50% reduction in the allowance of Rs 530 on 500 Kilometer to the driver-guard of Mail-Express. It has been recommended to run scissors for six months in the salary of railwaymen. It will be cut from 10 percent to 35 percent.
50% reduction in non-practice allowance is possible which includes travel, patient care, kilometers allowance, up to one year. If the employee does not come to office for a month, then the transport allowance will be deducted hundred percent. Children get 28 thousand for their education allowance. It will be reviewed.
