Pushkar Singh Dhami to be the Youngest CM of Uttarakhand

Date:

BJP’s young MLA from Khatima Pushkar Singh Dhami will be the 11th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. In the election year, BJP has played bets on young faces. 45-year-old Dhami has been active in politics since student life. The BJP’s central leadership was once again surprised by the announcement of Dhami’s name. Many big names including veteran leaders Satpal Maharaj, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Dhansingh Rawat, who were counted in the race for the Chief Minister, fell behind in the crucial moments.

On Saturday, 45-year-old Dhami was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Board meeting chaired by state president Madan Kaushik at the state party office. After the announcement of the name, Dhami reached the Raj Bhavan where he informed the Governor about his election as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party and offered to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan on Sunday.

Former Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat and BJP President Kaushik proposed Dhami’s name. Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, senior leaders Satpal Maharaj, Banshidhar Bhagat, Harbans Kapoor, Rekha Arya and Ritu Khanduri approved his name. BJP’s central observer Narendra Singh Tomar announced Dhami’s name. With the announcement of his name, slogans resonated in his support. After the meeting, Dhami along with senior leaders left for Raj Bhavan.

Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat along with his supporters reached the party office to attend the meeting. On reaching the office, his supporters raised slogans of Trivendra Rawat Zindabad. With the announcement of the name of young MLA Pushkar Singh Dhami in the BJP Legislature Party meeting, many senior MLAs felt dejected. Media personnel wanted to get feedback from Satpal Maharaj, the most talked about Chief Minister.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, elected leader of the BJP Legislature Party, will be the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He is 45 years old. Pushkar Singh Dhami is considered a supporter of former Chief Minister and Governor of Maharashtra and Goa Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Dhami has also been the OSD to the former Chief Minister. When Koshyari became the state president of BJP, Dhami was the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
