Supreme Court has denied any regulation for the cost of treatment of corona in private hospitals. The apex court, while hearing the petition,which stated that the private hospitals are charging arbitrary prices in corona treatment, said that the treatment cost can’t be regulated. In this petition it was demanded that a sum should be fixed for the treatment of patients suffering from corona virus.
After this, the court said that it is not possible to determine the cost of medical care across the country. The court said that if the cost model of a state is better, then the center should keep in mind that this model should also be known to all other states.
Speaking in favor of private hospital, Harish Salve said that the cost of treatment cannot be same in the whole country as the cost and model of each state are different. Private hospitals in every state have reserved some beds for patients. He said that the problem is due to insurance companies. If the patient has insurance, then why can’t the insurance companies pay the treatment cost.
