In view of the global epidemic of corona virus, today International Yoga Day 2020 is being celebrated on digital media forums without large gathering of people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving a message on this occasion. Yoga Day was celebrated worldwide for the first time on 21 June 2015 and since then every year that day is celebrated as Yoga Day but this will be the first time when it will be celebrated digitally. The theme of this year’s Yoga Day is ‘Yoga at home and yoga with family’ and people will be able to join the digital ceremony on June 21 at seven in the morning.
Addressing the nation on Yoga day, PM Modi said – “Children, elders, youth, family elders, when all connect together through yoga, there is an energy flow in the whole house. Therefore, this time Yoga Day is also a day for emotional yoga, it is also a day to increase our family bonding”.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, PM Modi said that the enthusiasm around yoga is increasing worldwide. Due to Corona, the world is understanding the need of yoga more than before.
Indian embassies abroad are trying to reach people through digital media, along with institutions that support yoga. At the same time, the Ministry of AYUSH had planned to do a big program in Leh but it was canceled due to the epidemic.
PM Modi on Thursday requested people to celebrate Yoga Day in their homes due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The Ministry and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) have launched an initiative to spread awareness about yoga and inspire people through the My Life-My Yoga video blogging competition. The competition was launched by the Prime Minister on 31 May.
