Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dhaka on 17 March amid Bangladesh’s concerns over India’s new Citizenship Act (CAA) and the proposed NRC. The Prime Minister has been invited by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina to attend the centenary celebrations of the founder of the neighboring country, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Sources said that during this visit, the Prime Minister will address Bangladesh’s concerns about CAA and NRC. PM Modi’s visit to Dhaka was announced when the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Brussels for the India-EU summit was postponed in view of the outbreak of coronavirus. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar said that health officials in India and Belgium have suggested that the visit should not take place at present.
