Modi Govt Follows Rahul Gandhi’s Advice on Vaccine Approval

Date:

After Rahul Gandhi’s letter to Narendra Modi over incoroporation of few more vaccines to meet the increasing demand, the government is now going to consider the use of Russia’s Covid Vaccine Sputnik – V in its key level meeting to be held today.

Sputnik – V vaccine manufactured in India by Dr Reddy’s, has an effectiveness of 91.6 per cent, highest after the Moderna and Pfizer shots.

The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Indian drug regulator will meet later today to consider granting emergency use approval to Sputnik V. In its last meeting on April 1, the committee had asked Dr Reddy’s to submit data on how the shot activates the body’s immune response against the coronavirus.

In a letter written on Friday to PM Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded an immediate moratorium on COVID-19 vaccine exports and opening up of the vaccination to “everyone who needs it” while emphasizing on fast track approval of other vaccines.
