Ministry of Railways prepares for Janta Curfew

New Delhi| In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath caused by it after the widespread growth of the virus among the citizens, the government is taking stern actions for social isolation.

Last night, PM came forward and addressed the nation in the wake of COVID-19. In order to make the citizens aware for the pandemic, and to uprise them about the preparedness of the government’s preparedness, the PM mentioned the do’s and don’ts. With the message to the nation, he also mentioned about Janta Curfew, a complete lockdown of the nation on Sunday, 22nd March 2020 from 07:00 am to 09:00 pm. This is considered to be a mock drill for the preparedness of a long time social-isolation, which can come into force looking at the spread of the pandemic.

Central Railways has also come up with a lockdown in accordance with the Janta Curfew. It has decided to reduce the operations of the railway operations on that day during the timings of Janta Curfew.

The suburban services in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Secundarabad has been ordered to reduce to minimum level to just essential needs. The number of services required has to be assessed by the respective zone.

Also, the order of stopping the usual run of passenger train has been given. This order shall be in effect from midnight of 21st March to 2200 hrs of March 22nd. Also, all longer distance intercity trains originating between 0400 hrs to 2200 hrs will also be cancelled.

Also, the  passengers alighting at enroute stations from trains on run has to be accomodated in the waiting halls and provisions of drinking water, refreshment will be arranged.
