Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the all-party meeting on Saturday through video conferencing. At the meeting, he expressed regret over the demolition of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in America. Apart from this, he reiterated that the government proposal given to farmers on 22 January is still the same. He said that the solution to the peasant movement can be found only through dialogue.
In the all-party meeting, the Prime Minister said, ‘We want to repeat what Narendra Singh Tomar said to the farmers. We said that we are not reaching a consensus, but we are proposing you and you (the farmer) can discuss. I’m just a phone call away. The government’s proposal is still the same. Please reach out to your followers. The solution will be found through negotiation. We all have to think about the nation.
Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Trinamool Congress’s Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut and Shiromani Akali Dal’s Balwinder Singh Bhander spoke at the meeting while Janata Dal United MP RCP Singh supported the laws.
