The war between Hamas and Israel that has been going on in Gaza for the last several months is almost over. Israel’s Cabinet on Saturday approved the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. After this, the way has been cleared for the release of dozens of people held hostage there. With this the war that has been going on for 15 months with Hamas will stop.
This ceasefire will be completed in three phases. In the first phase, 33 Israeli hostages will be released. In return, Israel will also release 250 Palestinian prisoners. Israeli army will also withdraw from Gaza. Israel’s Justice Ministry has released a list of 95 Palestinians to be released from Sunday. The agreement to stop fighting with Hamas will come into effect on Sunday.
Qatar and the United States, which brokered the deal, announced a ceasefire on Wednesday, but the deal remained in limbo for more than a day as Netanyahu said there were some last-minute snags, for which he blamed Hamas was held responsible. According to media reports, this agreement was opposed by some fundamentalist leaders. But 24 ministers of Netanyahu’s coalition government voted in favor of the agreement, while eight opposed it.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said on Friday that an agreement has been reached regarding the release of people held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
