In a jolt to former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, his close aide and former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday resigned from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. The PTI has been facing pressure from the Pakistan government after Imran Khan’s supporters vandalized and arson military installations on May 9.
A day earlier, former Pakistan minister and Imran Khan’s close aide Shireen Mazari quit PTI and condemned the actions of Khan’s supporters who attacked sensitive defense installations across Pakistan on May 9.
Fawad Chaudhary said, “I had clearly condemned the incidents of May 9 in my earlier statement. I have decided to stay away from politics for some time, hence I have resigned from the post of the party and am separating from Imran Khan.
Chaudhary had served as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Minister of Science and Technology during the government led by Khan. He was the Senior Vice President of PTI and the party spokesperson.
