Ahmedabad| Patients and suspected cases in Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital have been split on the basis of their faith. While the hospital authorities Dr Gunvant H Rathod said a ward for Hindu patients and another for Muslim patients had been created as per a state government decision, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Nitin Patel has denied such allegations.
In a hospital, generally there are separate wards for males and females, but here separate wards have been made for Hindus and Muslims.
As per hospital’s protocol, a COVID-19 patient is kept separately from the confirmed cases till the time test reports come.
As per the report published in the Indian Express, the names of patients belonging to a particular community were called out on Sunday night and were shifted from one ward to other. When being inquired about it, it has been told that it has been done for the comfort of both the communities as per the state government orders.
While the deputy CM and the district collector has kept denying such claims, hospital authorities are claiming that they have got orders from the state government to do so.
In the Civil Hospital, there are about 186 patients out of which more than 150 have been tested positive. One block of the Civil Hospital was designated for corona patients of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar zone in the last week of March.
