For the first time Mamata Bannerjee targets minority extremism

Date:

Speaking at a rally in Cooch Behar, a border district in West Bengal, CM Mamata Bannerjee criticized AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi and asked the locals to not to trust such extremist forces.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee on Monday at a rally in Cooch Behar went after Asaduddin Owaisi. While not directly naming the AIMIM Chief, she said extremist forces based in Hyderabad are trying to create differences and profit from such differences.

She also warned against Hindu extremism and said that extremist forces are here to destroy the peace and harmony in our country.
Cooch Behar is a border district in West Bengal and illegal immigration of Bangladeshi nationals is a big issue in this region.

Mamata Bannerjee’s TMC has ruled West Bengal uninterrupted since 2011 but now faces an uphill task in the upcoming assembly elections in 2021 as BJP in the recent years has made huge gains in the state and dislodged the Left and the Congress to become the primary opposition force.
