Famous choreographer Saroj Khan has passed away. She was admitted to the hospital after complaining of breathlessness where she died due to cardiac arrest at 1.52 pm on Friday. A few days ago her corona test was also done which came negative. Saroj Khan was 72 years old. She taught dance to many Bollywood actors including Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi.
A few days ago Saroj Khan was admitted to the hospital after suffering from shortness of breath where her health was improving.
Saroj Khan Choreographed 2000 Songs
Saroj Khan choreographed over 2000 songs. Few people know that Saroj Khan’s real name was Nirmala Nagpal. Saroj’s father’s name is Kishanchand Saddhu Singh and mother’s name is Noni Saddhu Singh. Saroj Khan’s family migrated to India from Pakistan after partition. Saroj started working in films as a child artiste at the age of just 3 years. Her first film was Nazrna in which she played the role of a girl named Shyama.
In the 50s, Saroj started working as a background dancer. She got trained with choreographer B. Sohanlal. Saroj joined the film Geeta Mera Naam, released in 1974, as an independent choreographer, though her work was recognized much later. Saroj Khan’s main films are Mr. India, Nagina, Chandni, Tezaab, Thanedar and Beta.
Saroj Khan took her first Master B. Was married to Sohanlal. Both had a gap of 30 years. Saroj was 13 years old at the time of marriage. He accepted the religion of Islam and he was 43 years old. Married Sohanlal. This was the second marriage of Sohanlal. They had four children from their first marriage. Saroj Khan had told in an interview that ‘I used to study in school those days, then one day my dance master Sohanlal tied a black thread around my neck and I got married’.
In an interview with a TV channel, Saroj Khan had said that ‘I had converted to Islam on my own free will. At that time many people asked me if there was any pressure on me but it was not so. I get inspired by the religion of Islam. ‘
Saroj Khan’s son Raju Khan was born in 1963 when he was told about Sohanlal’s married life. Saroj gave birth to another child in 1965 but died 8 months later. After the birth of the children, Sohanlal refused to give them his name. After this the distance came between the two. Saroj also has a daughter, Kuku. Saroj raised both children alone.
