Kanpur| A big scam has surfaced in Kanpur Municipal Corporation regarding sanitization of the Municipal area. The Municipal Corporation, which has the biggest responsibility of sanitization in the war with Corona virus, kept spraying water till now in the name of sanitization and the officers also remained unaware.

In this regard, the Municipal Corporation has not just done a scam, but has also kept the life of the residents of the city at high risk. Earlier, a flour scam surfaced in Madhya Pradesh, where a 10 kg flour bag weighed just 7-8 kg.

On investigation, it was found that instead of mixing sodium hypochloride to the water in Municipal Corporation for sanitization, they just sprayed plain water or water with very small amount of chemical in it, which was of no use at all. The consignment of sodium hypochloride was taken from Swaroop Nagar VVS Industries and Shastri Nagar Daman Enterprises, which were not registered firms. After investigation, it was found that the mobile numbers mentioned in the letter had just 9 digits.

The suppliers were supposed to supply 90 tonnes of chemical but mere 8.5 tonnes were supplied in the first phase. Dr. Pramila Niranjan, Chief Municipal Health Officer, after taking different samples of the chemical that came in the Municipal Corporation, was sent to the laboratory of Jalkal for testing.

Suppliers of sodium hypochloride to the Municipal Corporation for sanitization were put into play. One filled the submersible water in drums and the other added nominal chlorine to the chemical. According to the experts of the water department, in one sample there is complete water and in other, the amount of chlorine is only slightly above the level of drinking water. Despite all this, the silence of Municipal Corporation Officers is pointing towards a big scam.

The municipal team is regularly performing sanitization during the lockdown. It also includes areas of most hotspots, where sanitization is supposed to prevent corona infection from growing. Sodium hypochloride contains 42 percent chlorine in sanitization. Now the actual reason of increase in Corona hotspots in Kanpur is exposed.
